*Las Vegas Launches Deputy City Marshal Recruitment*

"Training Academy Begins In February 2025"

The city of Las Vegas invites residents to apply for entry-level deputy city marshal and corrections officer positions now through Dec. 31, 2024, with the primary focus to fill deputy city marshal vacancies. To apply, visit www.lasvegasnevada.gov/DPSJobs [ http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/DPSJobs?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ].

Accepted entry-level recruits, who must be at least 21 years old, will begin academy training in February. It takes 10-12 months to train entry-level recruits; officer candidates are paid as they go through academy training, before they can begin active duty.

Marshals are police officers who are actively engaged in protecting our community. Patrolling bustling boulevards, attending a community engagement meeting, enforcing traffic laws, making arrests and serving warrants are just some of the duties marshals perform. Marshals also engage in a variety of duties in the enforcement of state statutes, city ordinances and other city regulations on any real property owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the city of Las Vegas.

Interested candidates are invited to participate in the physical fitness preparation workout/networking/learning sessions already taking place Saturday mornings. A great way to discover if policing is for you is to ride along with a marshal during a shift. To request a ride-along, learn how to join in the Saturday morning workout sessions, or have your questions answered, email dpsrecruitment@lasvegasnevada.gov.

Qualified candidates from Southern Nevada, Arizona, California and Utah are encouraged to apply. In addition, the city also is hiring current police officers looking to start at a new agency as well as recently retired law enforcement officers.

“Due to upcoming retirements and attrition, we are looking to fill up to 25 openings for deputy city marshals next year,” said city of Las Vegas Public Safety Chief Jason Potts. “Our officers focus on proactive, data-driven policing and building community relationships that enhance public safety and make life better.”

Visit lasvegasnevada.gov/jobs [ https://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Government/Departments/Human-Resources?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] for information on more available positions with the city of Las Vegas.
