*2024 HONOR Latino Awards Recipients Announced*

"Seven Community Leaders Recognized For Their Contributions And Dedication"

 

     The third annual HONOR ("Honrando Orgullosamente Nuestras Obras y Raíces") Latino Awards ceremony took place Jan. 16, 2025, in City Council Chambers at Las Vegas City Hall to celebrate an inspiring group of individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, passion and dedication in their respective fields. * *Advancing Arts & Culture Award - Martha Luevanos
* A pioneer of Mexican "folklorico" in Las Vegas, Martha has brought the traditions of Mexico to life for more than 46 years. Her "Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Martha Luevanos" has transformed the cultural landscape and fostered pride in students through handmade costumes and education.
* *Business and Economic Advancement Award - Juan Soto
* As the founder of Soto Violins and Mariachi Depot, Juan Soto has become a cornerstone of the music community. From crafting world-class instruments to securing contracts for mariachi equipment, his work supports both local artists and international enthusiasts.
* *Advancing Equity in Healthcare Award - Brissa Arana
* Brissa Arana has dedicated more than 15 years to health education and social advocacy, focusing on under-served communities. As executive director of Promotor@s Las Vegas, her efforts in mental health awareness and preventive healthcare are creating lasting change.
* *Emerging Leader Award - Mapy Duran
* A social worker by profession, Mapy Duran has enriched communities in Las Vegas through cultural promotion, event coordination and literary advocacy. As the director of the Comala Literary Group and host of the radio show ""Las Comadres de la Radio"," her inspiring contributions for the Hispanic community span decades.
* *Spiritual Community Trailblazer - Pastor Joel Menchaca
* A leader and advocate for nearly five decades, Pastor Joel Menchaca founded the first Latino evangelical church in Nevada and continues to uplift the community through faith, immigration support and education advocacy.
* *Educating Our Community Trailblazer - Selene Lozada
* As executive director of the Nevada Parent Leadership Team, Selene Lozada empowers immigrant families by guiding them through the education system. Her innovative programs and advocacy efforts have brought transformative change to Nevada’s Hispanic families.
* *Outstanding Leadership Trailblazer - Luis Bonilla
* With 50 years in media, Luis Bonilla has been a trailblazer in Las Vegas, creating platforms for Hispanic voices through radio, television and print. His commitment to public service and the community is an enduring legacy.
