Las Vegas City Council Ratifies New Innovation And Technologies Director

"New Director Has 25 Years Of Experience In Innovation And Technology"

 

    At today’s meeting, the Las Vegas City Council unanimously ratified Chris Craig as the city’s new director of the Innovation and Technologies Department. He was selected for the position by City Manager Mike Janssen.

 

    Craig was previously promoted to deputy director of Innovation and Technologies in 2019, and has served as acting director of the department since December 2024. In his new role, Craig will oversee the city’s continued evolution into a tech market. Innovative startups are creating new ideas, and many are taking advantage of the city’s International Innovation Centers @ Vegas.

 

    “I’m excited by the opportunity to lead the city’s Innovation and Technologies team in aligning strategies with business objectives, fostering collaboration and promoting a culture of continuous learning,” Craig said. “We have an outstanding team and I look forward to continuing to serve our community.”

 

    Craig joined the city of Las Vegas in 2014 as an enterprise project manager. Since then, he also has served as a business partner, business relationship manager, deputy director and acting director. He also has taught Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation courses at UNLV.

 

    Prior to working for the city of Las Vegas, Craig served as director of Information and Technology at Porterville College in Porterville, California. He held many other IT roles at the college, as well.

 

    Craig graduated from Porterville College with an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.
