Right in the heart of downtown Las Vegas just steps off Fremont Street is the legendary Jackie Gaughan Suite at the historic El Cortez Hotel and Casino! This stunning 2,800-square-foot penthouse was once home to casino mogul Jackie Gaughan, the man behind much of downtown Vegas' success. Built in 1980, this iconic suite is a rare glimpse into Vegas’ golden era, complete with retro pink marble, vintage vibes and epic views of Fremont Street and the Las Vegas Strip.

The Las Vegas Book Festival, now in its 23rd year, returns this Saturday with headliners John Waters, Tracy Wolff and Nicola Yoon. The free annual event is open to all ages.

 

The festival will feature a variety of programming, including panel discussions, workshops, readings and children’s activities. Free parking is available at the lot near the Lloyd D. George U.S. Courthouse, 333 S. Las Vegas Blvd.; the entrance is on Sixth Street south of Bridger Avenue. All-day $5 parking is available at the City Hall Parking Garage at 500 S. Main St. and the City Centre Garage at 455 S. Third St.
