*City Council To Recognize National Champion*

*UNLV Skatin’ Rebels Hockey Team*

"Citizen Of The Month Also To Be Recognized"

 

    The Las Vegas City Council will recognize the national champion UNLV Skatin’ Rebels Hockey Team at the *April 2, 2025, City Council meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, located at 495 S. Main St.*

 

    The UNLV hockey team is a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, which represents 461 colleges and university-affiliated teams across 48 states and two Canadian provinces. In March, the Rebels avenged last year’s championship round loss to Adrian College of Michigan with a decisive 7-3 victory in this year’s final. The UNLV Skatin’ Rebels are a self-funded, nonprofit program that began in 2005.

 

    Also, Mayor Shelley Berkley is scheduled to recognize the April 2025 Citizen of the Month, Andy Armenian. Armenian moved to Las Vegas in 2005 and quickly became involved in serving the community. He has a passion for his Armenian heritage, and has previously served as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Las Vegas. Armenian currently serves as a member of the city’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission.

 

    In addition, Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz will recognize the achievements of Clark County School District students in her ward. Councilwoman Diaz is scheduled to recognize the K.O. Knudson Middle School Mariachi Los Pumas group and the Sunrise Elementary School flag football team.
