     Rainbow Company Youth Theatre, a city of Las Vegas program, will feature a production of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” Sept. 20-21 and Sept. 27-29, 2024. *News media are invited to preview the show during dress rehearsal Wednesday, Sept. 18, starting at 6:30 p.m. **To coordinate interviews at the dress rehearsal, contact Natasha Shahani at 702.219.1953 or **nshahani@lasvegasnevada.gov* <nshahani@lasvegasnevada.gov>*.  *

 

     The rehearsal and all performances will be held at Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. The show will have six performances over two consecutive weekends; the Sept. 27 performance will be sensory friendly with American Sign Language interpreters for the deaf and hard of hearing.

 

     The show is based on the novel by Mark Haddon, adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by David Tovar. In the story, 15-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain, excelling in mathematics but struggling with everyday life. Confined to familiar surroundings, he detests physical contact and harbors distrust for strangers. When he discovers his neighbor's dog murdered, Christopher embarks on a clandestine investigation that dramatically alters his understanding of the world.

There are no age restrictions for the audience; however some shows include mature content and parental discretion is advised. 

 

     The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre is a nationally acclaimed, award-winning youth theatre group. For more than 45 years, the company has provided professional training for young people and theatre art classes for all ages.

 

     The core of the Rainbow Company is its ensemble of 40 dedicated students, ages 10 to 18, selected yearly by open audition. The ensemble members work in all aspects of each production – costumes, makeup, sets, lights, sound and backstage crew – under the tutelage of professional directors and designers. Open auditions for ages 8-18 for this September show were held Aug. 10, 2024.
