*Ward 3 Councilman Scott Black hosts free community pool party *

*North Las Vegas* -- Join North Las Vegas Ward 3 Councilman Scott Black for a free pool party and grand re-opening celebration of Silver Mesa Activity Pool!

The community party will run from 3-7 p.m. this Saturday, June 4, at Silver Mesa Activity Pool, 4025 Allen Lane, North Las Vegas. The Southern Nevada Health District will partner with Councilman Black and the City for the celebration, which will include food, live entertainment, pool games, giveaways, and more!

"The reason I became a member of the City Council was so that I could give back to my community, and what better way than to throw a pool party for all ages inside our newly renovated pool!" Black said. "Some of my favorite times were hanging out by the community pool over summer and making memories with my family and friends. I hope this will be the start of a summer to remember for everyone who comes out."

Silver Mesa Activity Pool recently received a $500,000 makeover with major upgrades including an enhanced play feature, new paint, canopies, LED lights, upgraded decking and a new pool interior.

Walker and Petitti Pools are also slated to open this Saturday, June 4, for the summer season. Petitti Pool is at 2505 N. Bruce St., North Las Vegas, and Walker Pool is at 1509 June St., North Las Vegas.

*Silver Mesa Activity Pool*, open swim times:

* Wednesday-Thursday from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

* Friday-Saturday from 12 p.m.-6 p.m.

* Sunday from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

*Petitti and Walker Pools* (beginning June 4, 2022), open swim times:

* Wednesday-Saturday from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

* Sunday from 12 p.m.-6 p.m.

* Councilwoman Pamela Goynes-Brown's Summer Pool Party, 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Walker Pool, 1509 June St., North Las Vegas.

* Back to School Pool Party with Councilman Scott Black and County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick, 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Silver Mesa Recreation Pool, 4025 Allen Lane, North Las Vegas.

* Councilman Isaac Barron's Back to School Pool Party, noon-3 p.m., Aug. 13, at Petitti Pool, 2505 N. Bruce St., North Las Vegas. 

The City of North Las Vegas offers a multitude of aquatics services for children, seniors and adults, including swim lessons, water safety programs, and special events. Aquatics programming is part of the City's mission is to enhance quality of life for residents by providing a variety of family-friendly activities and educational opportunities across North Las Vegas.

*North Las Vegas Fire Department invites the public to a free pancake breakfast, open house and demonstrations*

*North Las Vegas, Nevada* - The North Las Vegas Fire Department is hosting an Open House and free Pancake Breakfast from 8-11 a.m. this Saturday, June 4, at Fire Station 56, 3475 Elkhorn Road, North Las Vegas.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to tour the facility and get an up-close-and-personal look at the equipment firefighters use on a daily basis. Firefighters will also provide a live fire demonstration. 

In addition, Saturday's event will feature North Las Vegas firefighters behind the griddle, serving up stacks of hot pancakes.

"We are thrilled to open Fire Station 56 to the community to give residents an opportunity to learn about fire safety and interact with members from our department," North Las Vegas Fire Chief Joseph Calhoun said. "The goal of this event is to mix fun with valuable lessons about fire prevention and teach residents about all of the cool things our firefighters do to keep our City safe." 

Beyond extinguishing flames and helping people out of dangerous situations, North Las Vegas firefighters help with hazardous materials, road traffic incidents, medical emergencies and more. The Fire Department is active in the community, hosting public outreach events like Saturday's, public health clinics, safety events, community education programs and community engagement events.  

The open house and pancake breakfast is free of charge. Members of the media are encouraged to attend. Fire Department executive team members will be available for interviews.
