Pedestrian Safety Improvements At Three Intersections To Begin July 13

"Improvements At Nellis/Cedar, Rancho/Coran, Sahara/Redwood"

 

     The city of Las Vegas is beginning pedestrian safety improvements this summer at three intersections near public schools. Each intersection is on the city’s High Injury Network (HIN), as designated by the Vision Zero Action Plan [ https://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Residents/Parking-Transportation/Transportation-Engineering/Vision-Zero?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]. The city of Las Vegas HIN consists of the 11% of streets which experience 77% of total serious injury and fatal traffic crashes. Planned improvements at the three intersections — Nellis Boulevard/Cedar Avenue, Rancho Drive/Coran Lane and Sahara Avenue/Redwood Street (see maps [ https://files.lasvegasnevada.gov/public-works/Pedestrian_Safety_Improvements/Pedestrian_Safety_Improvements_+2025-Maps.jpg?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]) — include upgrading ADA-required ramps, installation of pedestrian flasher systems, construction of median crossing refuge areas and upgrading street lighting where needed, and added/improved pavement marking and traffic signing. Work is scheduled to be complete in March 2026.

 

     Motorists can expect shifting lane closures and delays during construction, but access for residents and businesses will be maintained. The contractor plans to work nights between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning, beginning Sunday evening, July 13, at the Nellis/Cedar intersection. Lane restrictions will continue during daytime hours.

 

     CG&B Enterprises is the construction contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of the work is $2,474,777 funded by State of Nevada Safety Funds (NDOT) and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
