Looking for a way to beat the heat this summer? Councilman Scott Black will kick off the summer pool season with a pool party and grand re-opening celebration of Silver Mesa Pool from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. The Southern Nevada Health District is partnering with the City for the celebration, which will include food, live entertainment, pool games, giveaways and more! 

 

Silver Mesa Pool recently received a $500,000 makeover, which included significant upgrades such as new paint, canopies, enhanced play feature, LED lights, upgraded decking and pool interior.

 

Walker and Petitti Pools are slated to open next weekend, June 4 for the summer season. Petitti Pool is located at 2505 N. Bruce St., North Las Vegas and Walker Pool is located at 1509 June St., North Las Vegas.

 

*Silver Mesa Pool* (now open) open swim times:


* Wednesday - Thursday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
* Friday - Saturday from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
* Sunday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

*Petitti and Walker Pools* (beginning June 4, 2022) open swim times:


* Wednesday - Saturday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
* Sunday from 12 p.m.- 6 p.m.

*City of North Las Vegas celebrates ends of school year at SNUMA*

 

We recently honor more than 70 students at their end of the year graduation and awards ceremony at the Southern Nevada Urban Micro Academy in North Las Vegas.

 

The City of North Las Vegas started SNUMA in August 2020 as an innovative way to get children back to in-person learning and keep parents working during the COVID-19 shutdown. SNUMA is believed to be the first public-private partnership microschool in the country.

 

SNUMA began as a way to ensure our children don't get left behind academically during the pandemic, but now I am proud to say it has tremendously impacted so many young minds who have made valuable gains during our schoolyear. Many of these children who previously struggled with distance-learning or large class sizes have now become confident in their education and are ready to take on the world!

Summer reading program 2022

 

*The Craig Ranch Campout returns to Craig Ranch Regional Park*

 

The City of North Las Vegas is proud to announce the return of the Craig Ranch Campout at Craig Ranch Regional Park, 628 W. Craig Road, North Las Vegas from 5 p.m. Friday, June 3 - 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4.

 

Bring your tent and sleeping bag for an overnight campout at The Amp full of family fun and entertainment under the stars! Children of all ages with a parent/guardian are welcome, as are groups/ organizations with proper adult supervision. Registration for the event is $5 per person and includes dinner, snacks and breakfast, along with all activities, including a free showing of the movie, "Soul." Registration is limited to the first 300 participants, and is taken over the phone at (702) 633-2418, or in person at the Craig Ranch Regional Park Offices, 851 W. Lone Mountain Road.

*Air Liquide breaks ground in North Las Vegas *

 

Mayor Lee and members of the North Las Vegas City Council and the Economic Development team welcomed Air Liquide to North Las Vegas! The facility, which will provide hydrogen to a wide array of industries on the West Coast, is Air Liquide’s largest liquid hydrogen production and logistics infrastructure project in the world.

This facility is located on the south end of Apex Industrial Park. As North Las Vegas continues to attract more global companies and innovative industries to Apex, the industrial park is projected to bring 73,000 jobs and 7.4 billion dollars in investment to North Las Vegas over the next 20 years. These are the jobs of the future – tech, advanced manufacturing, medical research and development.

Mayor Lee presented Michael Graff, Chairman & CEO, American Air Liquide Holdings, Inc. and Executive Vice President, Air Liquide Group, with a proclamation recognizing Air Liquide as a pioneer in the hydrogen energy market, its commitment to clean energy, the completion of this incredible facility, and the company’s investment in North Las Vegas.

*The City of North Las Vegas breaks ground on new North Las Vegas Police Department Area Command police station *

 

The City of North Las Vegas broke ground Wednesday on a new police station, the North Central Area Command. The facility in the Villages at Tule Springs master planned community is being built as a public-private partnership between the City of North Las Vegas and DR Horton and is expected to open in May 2023.

 

The new 25,606 square foot area command, located at the corner of West Deer Springs Way and Harwood Creek Street, will provide additional police services to the City and its constituents in the heart of growing neighborhoods. As North Las Vegas adds population, services and amenities, the North Las Vegas City Council has made public safety investments a top priority to serve the City’s bustling residential and business community and to expand the reach and impact of the City’s public safety efforts.

*New Crosswalk installed thanks to our Public Works Department*

 

A big thank you to our Public Works Department for installing a button-operated crosswalk on Commerce Street, located south of Cheyenne Avenue where Republic Services employees cross daily to report to and from work. Thank you to my friend Paul DePietro for reaching out to me and to Republic Services for attending the opening with myself and our amazing Public Works team!

*Fire Station 56 Open House and Pancake Breakfast*

 

The North Las Vegas Fire Department cordially invites you to an open house and pancake breakfast! It's happening this Saturday (June 4) from 8-11 a.m. at Fire Station 56, 3475 Elkhorn Road, North Las Vegas. Firefighters will be behind the griddle, serving up stacks of fresh pancakes, and you will have an opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal look at the station and all of the equipment. Firefighters will be doing a live-fire demonstration and cutting into a vehicle as part of the program.
