Looking for a way to beat the heat this summer? Councilman Scott Black will kick off the summer pool season with a pool party and grand re-opening celebration of Silver Mesa Pool from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. The Southern Nevada Health District is partnering with the City for the celebration, which will include food, live entertainment, pool games, giveaways and more! 

 

Silver Mesa Pool recently received a $500,000 makeover, which included significant upgrades such as new paint, canopies, enhanced play feature, LED lights, upgraded decking and pool interior.

 

Walker and Petitti Pools are slated to open next weekend, June 4 for the summer season. Petitti Pool is located at 2505 N. Bruce St., North Las Vegas and Walker Pool is located at 1509 June St., North Las Vegas.

 

*Silver Mesa Pool* (beginning May 28, 2022) open swim times:


* Wednesday - Thursday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
* Friday - Saturday from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
* Sunday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

*City of North Las Vegas celebrates ends of school year at SNUMA*

 

I was thrilled to join City of North Las Vegas Councilwoman Pamela Goynes-Brown and Councilman Scott Black to honor more than 70 students at their end of the year graduation and awards ceremony at the Southern Nevada Urban Micro Academy in North Las Vegas.

 

The City of North Las Vegas started SNUMA in August 2020 as an innovative way to get children back to in-person learning and keep parents working during the COVID-19 shutdown. SNUMA is believed to be the first public-private partnership microschool in the country.

 

SNUMA began as a way to ensure our children don't get left behind academically during the pandemic, but now I am proud to say it has tremendously impacted so many young minds who have made valuable gains during our schoolyear. Many of these children who previously struggled with distance-learning or large class sizes have now become confident in their education and are ready to take on the world!

*The Craig Ranch Campout returns to Craig Ranch Regional Park*

 

The City of North Las Vegas is proud to announce the return of the Craig Ranch Campout at Craig Ranch Regional Park, 628 W. Craig Road, North Las Vegas from 5 p.m. Friday, June 3 - 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4.

 

Bring your tent and sleeping bag for an overnight campout at The Amp full of family fun and entertainment under the stars! Children of all ages with a parent/guardian are welcome, as are groups/ organizations with proper adult supervision. Registration for the event is $5 per person and includes dinner, snacks and breakfast, along with all activities, including a free showing of the movie, "Soul." Registration is limited to the first 300 participants, and is taken over the phone at (702) 633-2418, or in person at the Craig Ranch Regional Park Offices, 851 W. Lone Mountain Road.

*Air Liquide breaks ground in North Las Vegas *

 

Mayor Lee and members of the North Las Vegas City Council and the Economic Development team welcomed Air Liquide to North Las Vegas! The facility, which will provide hydrogen to a wide array of industries on the West Coast, is Air Liquide’s largest liquid hydrogen production and logistics infrastructure project in the world.

This facility is located on the south end of Apex Industrial Park. As North Las Vegas continues to attract more global companies and innovative industries to Apex, the industrial park is projected to bring 73,000 jobs and 7.4 billion dollars in investment to North Las Vegas over the next 20 years. These are the jobs of the future – tech, advanced manufacturing, medical research and development.

Mayor Lee presented Michael Graff, Chairman & CEO, American Air Liquide Holdings, Inc. and Executive Vice President, Air Liquide Group, with a proclamation recognizing Air Liquide as a pioneer in the hydrogen energy market, its commitment to clean energy, the completion of this incredible facility, and the company’s investment in North Las Vegas.

*The City of North Las Vegas breaks ground on new North Las Vegas Police Department Area Command police station *

 

The City of North Las Vegas broke ground Wednesday on a new police station, the North Central Area Command. The facility in the Villages at Tule Springs master planned community is being built as a public-private partnership between the City of North Las Vegas and DR Horton and is expected to open in May 2023.

 

The new 25,606 square foot area command, located at the corner of West Deer Springs Way and Harwood Creek Street, will provide additional police services to the City and its constituents in the heart of growing neighborhoods. As North Las Vegas adds population, services and amenities, the North Las Vegas City Council has made public safety investments a top priority to serve the City’s bustling residential and business community and to expand the reach and impact of the City’s public safety efforts.

¿Buscas una manera de combatir el calor este verano? El concejal Scott Black dará inicio a la temporada de piscinas de verano con una fiesta en la piscina y una gran celebración de reapertura de Silver Mesa Pool de 4 a 7 p.m. el sábado 4 de junio. El Distrito de Salud del Sur de Nevada se asocia con la Ciudad para la celebración, que incluirá comida, entretenimiento en vivo, juegos en la piscina, obsequios y más.

*La Ciudad de North Las Vegas celebra el final del año escolar en SNUMA*

 

Recientemente honramos a más de 70 estudiantes en su ceremonia de graduación y premios de fin de año en la Micro Academia Urbana del Sur de Nevada en North Las Vegas.

 

La ciudad de North Las Vegas inició SNUMA en agosto de 2020 como una forma innovadora de hacer que los niños vuelvan a aprender en persona y mantener a los padres trabajando durante el cierre de COVID-19. Se cree que SNUMA es la primera microescuela de asociación público-privada del país.

 

SNUMA comenzó como una forma de garantizar que nuestros niños no se queden atrás académicamente durante la pandemia, pero ahora me enorgullece decir que ha impactado tremendamente a tantas mentes jóvenes que han logrado avances valiosos durante nuestro año escolar. ¡Muchos de estos niños que antes luchaban con el aprendizaje a distancia o con clases grandes ahora confían en su educación y están listos para conquistar el mundo!

La Ciudad de North Las Vegas inició el miércoles la construcción de una nueva estación de policía, el Comando del Área Norte Central. La instalación en la comunidad planificada maestra de Villages at Tule Springs se está construyendo como una asociación público-privada entre la ciudad de North Las Vegas y DR Horton y se espera que abra en mayo de 2023.
