The Las Vegas Book Festival, now in its 23rd year, returns with headliners John Waters, Tracy Wolff and Nicola Yoon! The festival will feature a variety of programming, including panel discussions, workshops, readings and children’s activities. Free parking is available at the lot near the Lloyd D. George U.S. Courthouse, 333 S. Las Vegas Blvd.; the entrance is on Sixth Street south of Bridger Avenue. All-day $5 parking is available at the City Hall Parking Garage at 500 S. Main St. and the City Centre Garage at 455 S. Third St. 

 

The Las Vegas Book Festival is the largest literary event in Nevada, produced by the city of Las Vegas and Nevada Humanities, along with many sponsors and supporters, including News 3, Audacy Radio, Las Vegas Review-Journal/Las Vegas Sun, NV Energy, The Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE, Nevada Public Radio, Spread the Word Nevada, Nevada Center for the Book and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Mia Kang is a 16-year-old visual artist whose work revolves around capturing imaginative depictions and implementing personal experiences into her work. Her art reflects a unique perspective that purposefully evokes emotional connection.

 

The aim of this exhibition is to develop and expand on a representation of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia through creative methods, allowing others to involve their own perspective to help spread awareness about these conditions. These pieces explore the ideas of memory and the passage of time using a range of colorful patterns and distinct images.

Join us for the opening reception of the "Mexican Mythologies: Past and Present Exhibition"! Explore artwork inspired by Mexico's rich cultural heritage, featuring works that reflect both ancient traditions and modern interpretations. This special event will take place at the Mayor’s Gallery in the Historic Fifth Street School. In partnership with the Consulado de México en Las Vegas, the city of Las Vegas invites you to celebrate this opening reception.

Acompáñanos en la recepción inaugural de la exposición Mitologías Mexicanas: Pasado y Presente! Explora obras de arte inspiradas en la rica herencia cultural de México, con piezas que reflejan tanto tradiciones ancestrales como interpretaciones modernas. Este evento especial se llevará a cabo en la Galería del Alcalde en la Escuela Histórica de la Quinta Calle. En colaboración con el Consulado de México en Las Vegas, la ciudad de Las Vegas te invita a celebrar esta recepción inaugural.

We are looking to commission three artists or teams of artists to present temporary site-responsive sculptures as part of the "3 on Main "Public Art Program.

 

The program intends to activate public spaces and provide funding for the development of temporary public works of art.

*Windows on First Temporary Public Art Program*

We invite artists to create original, site-specific installations presented within the context of the First Street Art Trail. The proposed installation should relate to the space and the windows should form a cohesive relationship.

 

The artwork will be on display for approximately six months, beginning in April 2025. The artist or team of artists will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and de-installation.

*Lunar New Year Exhibition - Year of the Snake*

Deadline Dec. 30, 2024

 

We are issuing a call for artists to submit artwork for the 14th annual "Lunar New Year Art Exhibition "2025, celebrating the Year of the Snake. This exhibition will showcase contemporary and traditional art inspired by the cultural and symbolic significance of the snake, representing transformation, wisdom and intuition.

 

Selected artists will exhibit their works of art at the Mayor’s Gallery, where the exhibit will be open to the public from January 2025 through April 2025. Artists of all mediums are welcome to submit.
